It was a sweltering afternoon in Nairobi when Stephen and Rosemary, newly married and full of idealism, took a wrong turn into one of the city's vast slums. They saw children picking through mountains of garbage, sleeping in cardboard shacks, and staring with hollow eyes. One little boy, maybe six years old, was trying to roll a discarded tire up a muddy slope, his only toy. In that moment, a question burned in their hearts. That question became a calling, and that calling became ByGrace Trust.
Unlike traditional institutions, we embrace a "family care" model where each child becomes part of our home. Our dedicated caregivers act as parental figures, nurturing each child's growth in mind, body, and spirit, in a secure and loving environment.

We didn't start an organization; we started a family. Grace did the rest.
With donated funds, Stephen and Rosemary rented a single derelict room, repaired the broken floor, and brought in five children from the slums. They fed them, hugged them, taught them Bible stories, and called them family. That was 1994. Word spread. More children came. More donors gave. More staff joined. Within five years, the Home moved to its current campus, a spacious property with dormitories, classrooms, and a playground. What began in a single room had become a village of grace.
The vision expanded naturally: schools for the growing children, a church for the surrounding community, and a program to keep vulnerable mothers and their children together.
